Altitude Questions

HOW HIGH ARE WE GETTING?

The Town of Vail is located over 8,000 ft above sea level and our venue sits just over 10,000 ft.

WHAT IS ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Altitude sickness occurs when the body doesn't have enough time to adjust to the lower oxygen levels and changes in air pressure that occur at high altitudes. Symptoms include headache, fatigue, shortness of breath, and dizziness.

HOW CAN I AVOID ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Hydration is key! Altitude sickness can impact those in their best health. We also recommend enjoying some healthy sugars and carbohydrates during your stay. If you can, consider arriving early to give yourself time to adjust. You can also stay in Denver for a night to help your body acclimatize.

WHAT DO I DO IF I GET ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

In addition to continuing to hydrate throughout your stay, additional altitude sickness remedies include Advil, electrolytes, and oxygen cans. All will be available at our wedding reception for guests in need.

If your symptoms persist longer than 24-48 hours we recommend descending to a lower altitude or seeking medical attention. Your health is our priority!
